Keep Your Newsletter Fresh
How do you keep your newsletter fresh and interesting? This is a problem a lot of marketers struggle with. There is less reason to go to the trouble of building a mailing list if you have an uninspiring newsletter.
Most people will not buy from you until you've contacted them five to seven times. This is why having an interesting newsletter is so critical. Here are three strategies to keep it fresh and exciting:
#1) Talk about current news events
Tying your product or service into what's going on in the world is a great way to generate interest. It's amazing how many news items can be related to what you are selling.
You want to talk about stories that have relevance to your business. Make sure it's something your prospects would have an interest in. This is why general news items and niche specific stories work the best.
For instance, if you are selling a fishing product, talk about general and fishing-specific news. These are the topics you know the vast majority of your niche is going to be interested in. It is not necessary to talk about other niches, such as golf, skiing, and so on.
This is a strategy a lot of top marketers use to give their newsletter personality. If your marketing is nothing more than one sales pitch after another, you aren't going to make money.
#2) Talk about your life
Stories are another great way to generate interest in your product. It doesn't have to be something earth shattering either.
When you become a good story teller, you can make even routine everyday events sound interesting. It might take some practice, but you will get the hang of it. This is another excellent strategy for keeping your newsletter fresh and exciting.
#3) Offer surveys
Every now and then, you might want to send out a survey to keep your customers interacting. Ask them what their biggest challenges are within the niche, or something similar. This will not only spike interest, but also give you feedback for future products.
Of course, you can't use the above strategies with every single email. Every now and then, you have to make an offer for your products.
However, the majority of your emails should not be a blatant marketing pitch. The strategies listed are great ways for building up your prospectsà trust while establishing yourself as an expert.
Remember, people don't buy from businesses. They buy from people. Therefore, having personality in your marking is extremely important. This is often what separates the good from the great.
Keeping a newsletter fresh might take some effort at first, but it will be well worth it. Many marketers don't take the time to develop a personality, but if you do you will reap the rewards.
